April 2024, The Eau Claire Criminal Justice Collaborating Council (CJCC) updated its membership to include a new seat on the council to be served by a Community Advocate Provider.  The primary focus of the CJCC improve the administration of justice and promote public safety through planning, research, education, and system-wide coordination of criminal justice initiatives.

The CJCC generally defines the role of a Community Advocate Provider to be an agency within the county that actively works with those clients who have been criminal justice involved.

Eau Claire County, Criminal Justice Collaborating Council is looking to fill this newly created seat on the council.  Applicants must be a person or agency who can identify and articulate how they see their work as a community advocate provider.

 Applicants will be vetted and interviewed by the Executive Board. This seat will be elected to serve a two-year term.

Formal meetings will be held in person every other month on Tuesday mornings from 7:00 am until 8:30 am.

Applications will remain open until a candidate is selected and approved.

Mission Statement

The principal mission of the Council is to improve the administration of justice and promote public safety through planning, research, education, and system-wide coordination of criminal justice initiatives.

Public Safety Through Community Collaboration

 

The Criminal Justice Collaborating Council works to collectively manage system challenges facing Eau Claire County's Criminal Justice System and strengthen the overall well-being of our communities by developing and recommending policies and practices that improve public safety, promote fairness, equity and accountability, and reduce unnecessary incarceration and criminal justice involvement in Eau Claire County.

The CJCC supports the rights and needs of victims. In addition, the Council is committed to providing the coordinated leadership necessary to establish and foster innovative corrections programs for adult and juvenile offenders.

The Council also develops multi-disciplinary strategies to alleviate jail overcrowding and system improvements while making recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors on how to implement and fund the strategies.

Directive

In September 2006, the Eau Claire County Board passed a resolution creating the Eau Claire Criminal Justice Collaborating Council (CJCC).  The primary focus of the CJCC is to enhance public safety in Eau Claire County through community collaboration, coordinated leadership, and innovative criminal justice programs.

CJCC Membership

The CJCC membership includes 19 elected and appointed leaders in the criminal justice system, as well as four citizen members. Citizen members are elected to serve two-year terms.  All circuit court judges are members, and except for the Presiding Judge, are non-voting.
