Special Weapons and Tactics

The Eau Claire County SWAT team is a regional team comprised of several agencies including the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Chippewa Falls Police, Menomonie Police, Altoona Police, and the Bloomer Police.  The team has 25 tactical personnel, 2 radio communications personnel, 1 Township Fire Command, 10 negotiators, and 5 medics from the Chippewa Fire District. The tactical team is used to respond to high-risk situations requiring additional personnel, specialty equipment, and personnel trained in advanced tactics.

The Eau Claire County Regional Team is recognized as one of eight state regional teams through the Wisconsin Emergency Management, Aligned Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).
