Fingerprint/DNA Room

FINGERPRINT INFORMATION

**The Fingerprint room will be closed from Thursday November 28, 2024, through Monday December 16, 2024**

The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office offers fingerprinting for the public.  This includes fingerprinting for all types of employment background/licensures (i.e. health care, education, banking/finance, insurance, safety and security, childcare, elderly care, etc.), foster care, adoption, international travel, or for basically any other purpose.

The Sheriff's Office also does fingerprinting for Concealed Weapons Permits.
Information can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Justice Conceal Carry website.

Fingerprinting is normally completed via digital technology (Live Scan) using our fingerprint cards; however, ink prints can be rolled on cards provided by you if specifically requested. The quality of those fingerprints is not guaranteed.

Hands, palms, and undersides of your fingers must all be clean and free of any dye, henna, oil, open wounds, bandages, other injuries, and/or sutures.

Tips for better prints:

We recommend using a good hand lotion for a week or more prior to printing, especially if your skin tends to be dry.

Extremely long or curved fingernails may prevent the fingers from properly contacting the printing surface of Live Scan and may need trimming.

Try to avoid wearing large rings on fingers as they can damage the printing surface of the Live Scan.

If you have open sores, bandages, or injured fingers – prints will need to be taken after injuries have healed.

What do I need to bring with me?
When using the Live Scan machine, can you print my fingerprints on the cards that I was sent?
My instructions that came with the cards say that they are required to be "Inked" fingerprints. Will I get a set of "Inked" fingerprints?
Can the Sheriff's Office e-mail or electronically forward the fingerprints to the company/agency that I am applying to?
Can I get more than two copies of my fingerprint cards?
I was notified that my fingerprint cards that I was given by the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office were rejected, what do I now do?
