Community Climate Action & Resilience Plan (CARP)
In 2019, Eau Claire County adopted a carbon neutrality resolution that outlined three goals:
- Achieve Eau Claire County government and community carbon neutrality by 2050 with incremental drawdown targets of 5% by 2020, 25% by 2030, 30% by 2040, and 40% by 2050.
- Obtain 100% renewable energy for the Eau Claire County government by 2050.
- Assist the community in achieving 100% renewable energy by 2050.
The Eau Claire County Sustainability Advisory Committee is inviting residents, businesses, and community organizations within Eau Claire County to learn about Eau Claire County’s current sustainability goals and then provide feedback on the Community Climate Action & Resilience Plan the committee will be developing over the next year. Community members will have the opportunity to provide comments. The plan aims to identify goals and strategies that will achieve the above goals relating to the community.
The Committee will host three events:

Monday, February 19th from 4PM-6PM at the Brewing Projekt (1807 N Oxford Avenue, Eau Claire)

Tuesday, February 20th from 4PM-6PM at the Eau Claire County Highway Facility (5061 US Highway 53 Eau Claire, WI 54701)
- Thursday February 22nd from 4PM-6PM at the Augusta High School (E19320 Bartig Rd, Augusta, WI 54722)

Community Climate Action & Resilience Plan Highlights
Below are the goals of the plan listed by sector.
Energy
1. Reduce residential energy use by 20%.
2. Generate 50% of community energy from renewable resources.
3. Reduce commercial energy use by 20%.
Solid Waste
1. Divert 50% of organic material from the waste stream.
2. Increase recycling and waste diversion opportunities and participation in the community.
Transportation
1. Have 7% of registered vehicles in the County be EVs.
2. Reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by 10%.
Agriculture & Natural Resources
1. Increase native habitat and tree canopy within the County.
2. Increase participation in programs that support climate smart agriculture, energy savings, etc.
3. Increase enrollment in Farmland Preservation Program and Ag Enterprise Area.
