Clean Sweep events are offered several times throughout the year and provide residents with an opportunity to bring their collections of hazardous materials to a central location for proper disposal.
WRR Environmental Services executes these events three times per year. These events are intended for county residents ONLY.
Businesses, farms, or Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQGs) should contact WRR directly to schedule a separate appointment. (715) 834-9624

Accepted Materials (no fee):
- Oil based paints
- Thinners/Strippers
- Stains/Varnish
- Corrosives
- Solvents
- Cleaners/Polishes
- Old Fuel
- Used oil and filters
- Antifreeze
- Aerosol Cans
Materials Accepted for a Fee:
- Latex Paint ($4/gallon)
- Light bulbs (price varies by type)
- 1 lb. & 20 lb. propane cylinders *Rusted cylinders not accepted*
Materials not accepted:
- Electronics (other than lightbulbs) Batteries can be taken to Electronics Collection events for FREE.
- Biological and infectious wastes
- Radioactive materials
- Pesticides
- Pool Chemicals
- Pressurized cylinders other than propane cylinders (1 lb and 20 lb) and fire extinguishers
- Explosive and shock sensitive materials
- Commercial, industrial, institutional and agricultural generated wastes
Rules and Collection Procedures:
- The program accepts only household waste generated in homes of Eau Claire County residents, as well as residents of the City of Eau Claire in Chippewa County.
- No businesses (even home-based) may participate. Businesses MUST register as VSQG's.
- Participants must register at the collection site and show proof of residency.
- WRR staff will unload materials from your vehicle.
- Payment will be accepted after all materials are accounted for. Cash or card accepted.
