Competent, Caring Support for Individuals and their Caregivers
Memory loss is not an inevitable part of aging, but if you or someone you care about are exhibiting symptoms, it's time to talk with someone about your concerns. The ADRC is here to help you!
The ADRC is a Dementia Capable Organization with highly trained professional staff who provide appropriate competent, sensitive supports to the individual with dementia and their caregivers.
Our Dementia Care Specialist (DCS) can help educate family members, provide support and connect caregivers to services, and problem-solve challenging situations.
The mission of the Dementia Care Specialist Program is to support people living with dementia and their families and caregivers to ensure the highest quality of life possible while living at home.
In order to accomplish this mission, the DCS has three main goals:
- Ensure ADRC staff and volunteers are trained and knowledgeable about dementia and are prepared to meet the needs of the people they serve in a supportive, helpful manner.
- Provide education and support to individuals and families.
- Help develop Dementia Friendly Communities where people living with dementia can remain active and safe, and caregivers can feel supported.
- Assist in raising awareness of the unique needs of people living with dementia and their families to local businesses, employers, faith communities, civic organizations, etc.
Contact the ADRC, 715-839-4735, to speak to the Dementia Care Specialist.
