The Family Caregiver Support Programs provide information and assistance, and funding for services* to family members, neighbors and friends who care for adults 60 years old and older and persons with Alzheimer's disease or related disorder (regardless of age); grandparents and relative caregivers of children no older than 18 and relative caregivers of an adult child 18-59 with a disability.
*Based on funding availability which restarts each calendar year.
These caregiver programs seek to support informal caregivers so you can continue to care for your loved one at home. Examples of ways these grants could provide "respite" include, but are not limited to:
- Paying for a care worker to come to the home to give you a break while you run errands or go out for lunch with a friend.
- Help your loved one take a shower.
- Do some cleaning or lawn care that your spouse used to do.
- Reimburse you to have a handyman put in grab bars.
- Perhaps a piece of adaptive equipment to help with transfers in & out of the shower/bed/car would help you care for your loved one.
- More!
